You are all invited to participate in an open and ongoing TESOL workshop that is just getting started.  If you are interested in knowing more, feel free to contact me.

This is the first of an open, ongoing course designed for anyone interested in teaching English to students of other languages. Pre and in-service teachers, trainers, instructors, facilitators, coaches, etc. will have opportunities to share perspectives, ideas, and experiences as we all search for ways to improve curriculum, assessment, and instruction in English language teaching and learning. If you have an interest in helping English language learners improve their understandings, knowledge, skills, and habits of mind, you are encouraged to take part in an ongoing discussion that promotes creativity, criticality, and caring! This first session provides an overview of the course, some of the technologies involved, and what to expect going forward. I look forward to your future contributions!

Hello everyone, and welcome back to META!  Moving from Ning to Grou.ps appears to be a reality!

I've been busy lately working in Wikieducator and have been putting together Open Educational Resources (OERs) for both in-service teachers (i.e., professional development) as well as for pre-service EFL educators taking an academic writing and a qualitative research course.  If anyone wishes to collaborate or take part in any OERs that I'm involved with, feel free to do so.  Your feedback is always appreciated as well!

This is some serious satire from one of my favorite sites, The Onion. Take a moment to read it, and i'd love to hear what you think. http://www.theonion.com/articles/increasing-number-of-parents-opting-to-have-childr,17159/
It is important in all walks of life to be able to speak and understand English if you live anywhere in the US. Signage is in English, textbooks are in English. Job applications and health insurance quotes are in English. If a person is wanting to succeed or even just survive in these 50 states, English must be well taught and well understood. Even when there is translation of signs, automated phone calls, etc. into Spanish, the full meaning will not be provided. It will be enough to get by but not complete meaning. It is a choice to relocate to another country and the language is a big part of the adjustment.
